Rhetoric & Writing Portfolio Michael Wojcik Estimating Ethos: Mind Maps

I recorded much of my initial thinking for the Estimating Ethos project in mind maps, using the FreeMind tool. I've used FreeMind's export capabilities to convert those to XHTML with client-side image-map representations of the actual, graphical mind maps and their text in folding outlines, and collected them here as both an archive of the exploratory stage of the project and as a sketch of some of the spaces it might eventually grow into.

Investigation

The first map, Estimating Ethos, collects my thoughts from early in the project. It covers both theoretical and practical aspects.

Ethos Indicators

The Ethos Indicators map explores some analogs and proxies for ethos (or ethic standing).

Ranking Ethos

In the Ranking Ethos map I collected speculations about the kinds of data I might collect and how those might be processed into some kind of metric for ethos. Some branches of this map (such as the "roles" that could be assigned to participants) are completely outside the scope of the project as I currently conceive it, but might return in the future.

Implementation

Finally, there's a map titled Implementation where I gathered some of my preliminary ideas for the software implementation.
